Women’s Dirt Shredder Fall MTB Trip

OCTOBER 4 – 6, 2024 Women’s Dirt Shredder Weekend!

Fall is my favorite time of year to mountain bike with the cooler temperatures and beautiful colors. Join Endurance Adventures for one or both of the upcoming women’s Dirt Shredder mountain bike weekends in August and October of 2024. These weekends will be filled with skills, riding, trail work, wine, chocolate and more! Beginner to advanced mountain bike abilities are welcome. Weekend activities include:

  • Learn new mountain bike SKILLS in a safe and encouraging environment.
  • Gain trail maintenance knowledge and SERVE alongside CAMBA trails crew!
  • Guided group RIDES exploring over 100 miles of CAMBA single-track trails.
  • Both weekend events are sponsored by Endurance Adventures, CAMBA and Riverbrook Bike Shop

SCHEDULE: OCT. 4-6, 2024

Friday, October 4, 2024: Check-in, safety bike check, skills instruction and trail riding!

Location: Riverbrook Bike Shop & Hatcher Creek Trailhead, Hayward

  • 1 – 2:30 PM  Registration check-in at Riverbrook Bike Shop!
    • Our coaches and mechanic will be available to check your bike. Pick up your swag bag and shop around for mountain bike clothing and gear.
  • 3:00 – 5:00 PM Skills & Riding at Hatcher Creek Trailhead.
    • 1-hour MTB Fundamental skills instruction
    • 1-hour MTB ride practicing skills!
  • 5 – 6 PM Post-ride beverages and appetizers at Hatcher Creek Pavilion
  • 6 PM Optional dinner gathering at the Sawmill Saloon

Saturday, October 5, 2024:  CAMBA Trail Work, Skill Instruction & Ride!

Location: Wilson/Patsey Lake Trailhead

  • 9 AM -12 PM Trail work with CAMBA ( location TBD)
  • 12 -1 PM Trailside lunch provided by CAMBA
  • 1 – 4  PM  Bike skill instruction and trail riding from Wilson Lake Trailhead with multiple length riding options.
  • 6 – 8 PM   Optional Dinner gathering at Tamarack Farm.                

Sunday, October 6, 2024: Birkie Base Camp Village

Location: American Birkebeiner Trailhead

  • 9 AM -12 PM Skills and riding session on the new Trek Mountain Bike trails!
  • 12 – 1 PM Lunch at Backroads Cafe at new Base Camp Village!
  • 1 – 2 PM Mountain Bike Maintenance Clinic
  • 2 – 4 PM More riding on your own if desired!

MTB Experience/Ability:

Beginner to advanced mountain bike abilities are welcome! Small group riding will follow the large group skill instruction. The small group rides will be geared towards participants fitness/ability levels for the daily trail ride. Choose from a variety of distances (10 -20 miles) for each ride session. Trip leaders will split women into smaller riding ability groups so everyone can have an enjoyable experience.

Fundamental bike body positions and movements include the following:

Neutral/Ready positions, Bike/Body separation, pedal position, eye movement, braking, steering, speed, gearing/cadence, timing/coordination, and pressure control. The class will introduce the skills of climbing, descending, ratcheting, riding straight lines, small circles/switchbacks, and rock dodge.

TRIP DETAILS:

Women’s Dirt Shredder weekend includes the following:

  • Mountain bike skills instruction for beginner to advanced riders.
  • Guided trail riding with your trip leaders.
  • Swag bag including water bottle, T-shirt and chocolate!
  • Trailside Appetizers/drinks after Friday and Saturday rides.
  • Saturday lunch and dinner meals.
  • Bike maintenance clinic sponsored by Riverbrook Bike Shop!

Not Included: Participants are responsible for transportation, lodging, Friday dinner, breakfast meals and Sunday lunch.

TRIP LEADERS

Coach Kim Rudd is a Level 2 BICP (Bike Instructor Certification Program) Certified Coach Instructor with over thirty years of mountain bike race experience and twenty years of coaching. She enjoys empowering and encouraging women of all ages to become confident in their riding abilities.
